Stay the Course with Facility Safety

We all are experiencing COVID fatigue, but now is NOT the time to slack off on facility cleanliness. Here's some reminders:

• Disinfectants kill germs on surfaces. By killing germs on a surface after cleaning, you can further lower the risk of spreading infection. EPA-approved disinfectants are an important part of reducing the risk of exposure to COVID-19.

• Store and use disinfectants in a responsible and appropriate manner according to the label. Do not mix bleach or other cleaning and disinfection products together—this can cause fumes that may be very dangerous to breathe in. Keep all disinfectants out of the reach of children.

• Practice social distancing, wear facial coverings, and follow proper prevention hygiene, such as washing your hands frequently and using alcohol-based (at least 60% alcohol) hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available.

Croaker, Inc has a good supply of EPA registered Disinfectants, Hand Soap and Alcohol Hand Sanitizer in stock.  We also have all your routine facility supplies - paper towels, toilet paper, trashliners and cleaning equipment.  We are committed to helping your facility stay clean and safe.

Coronavirus Updates and Workplace Strategies

As the concern about the Coronavirus continues, The CDC continues to emphasize the importance of hand hygiene and routine disinfection of surfaces as the current best practices.

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.  If soap and water is not available, use hand sanitizer.

Standard Precaution Recommendations from World Health Organization (WHO) include:
“Ensure that environmental cleaning and disinfection procedures are followed consistently and correctly. Thorough cleaning of environmental surfaces with water and detergent and applying commonly used hospital level disinfectants is
an effective and sufficient procedure."

Contact Croaker, Inc for suggestions on hand hygiene and disinfection products.

Viruses, fungi, and bacteria, including MRSA, VRE and CRE, can be eliminated with germicides containing quaternary ammonium compounds (“Quat”) or organic acids.

Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces with an EPA registered disinfectant.

The  National Chemical Laboratories Disinfectants listed below have all demonstrated effectiveness against Human Coronavirus and SARS:

Recommended strategies for employers to use now:

  • Actively encourage sick employees to stay home
  • Separate sick employees
  • Emphasize staying home when sick, respiratory etiquette and hand hygiene by all employees
  • Perform routine environmental cleaning
  • Advise employees before traveling to take certain steps as outlined by the CDC.
  • Additional Measures in Response to Currently Occurring Sporadic Importations of the COVID-19:
    • Employees who are well but who have a sick family member at home with COVID-19 should notify their supervisor.
    • If an employee is confirmed to have COVID-19, employers should inform fellow employees of their possible exposure to COVID-19 in the workplace but maintain confidentiality as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Planning for a Possible COVID-19 Outbreak in the US

The severity of illness or how many people will fall ill from COVID-19 is unknown at this time. If there is evidence of a COVID-19 outbreak in the U.S., employers should plan to be able to respond in a flexible way to varying levels of severity and be prepared to refine their business response plans as needed. For the general American public, such as workers in non-healthcare settings and where it is unlikely that work tasks create an increased risk of exposures to COVID-19, the immediate health risk from COVID-19 is considered low. The CDC and its partners will continue to monitor national and international data on the severity of illness caused by COVID-19, will disseminate the results of these ongoing surveillance assessments, and will make additional recommendations as needed.

Coronavirus Updates and Prevention

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is closely monitoring an outbreak of respiratory illness caused by a novel (new) coronavirus first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. Novel coronavirus, also known as 2019-nCoV, has been confirmed in more than 31,000 people in mainland China, the commission said. Additional cases have been identified in a growing number of other international locations, including the United States. The US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is closely monitoring the situation and provides comprehensive and timely updates.

Novel coronaviruses - such as MERS-CoV, SARS-CoV, and 2019-nCoV cause severe symptoms including fever, cough and shortness of breath that can lead to pneumonia and even death. These coronoaviruses can quickly spread from person to person and can lead to widespread outbreaks. In the case of 2019-nCov, there is neither a vaccine nor specific treatment.

Infection Control Measures:There is currently no vaccine to prevent the 2019-nCoV infection. The best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to this virus. However, as a reminder, CDC always recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, including:
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap
and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Stay home when you are sick.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces with an EPA
registered disinfectant.
• CDC recommends patients wearing a surgical mask as soon as they are identified.
Personnel entering the room should use standard precautions, contact precautions, and airborne precautions.

Croaker, Inc stocks a complete selection of ready-to-use, aerosol and concentrated disinfectants which have all demonstrated effectiveness against Human Coronavirus and SARS Associated Carnovirus on hard, non-porous surfaces. Therefore, we recommend the products be used in accordance
with label directions. All products have a 10 minute kill claim unless otherwise noted.

Suggested Products: Aerosol: Champion Spray Disinfectant

                                  Ready-to-use:  Buckeye Sanicare TBX

                                  Concentrate:  NCL Micro-Chem Plus

Deep Cleaning Tips To Maintain A Healthy Learning Environment

Cold winter months keep students and faculty indoors for longer hours, causing more dirt to accumulate throughout a facility and germs to spread easily. To combat the spread of infections and accumulation of debris tracked in during the winter, here are some tips to help promote student and faculty health, safety and productivity.

“Extended student breaks provide schools an opportunity to perform deep cleaning activities,” said John Engel, Director of Marketing, Cintas. “When combined with routine cleaning while school is in session, deep cleaning can help schools improve health and safety, and reduce long-term repair and replacement costs.”

To maintain a healthy learning environment, focus on the following:

 • Deep clean carpets and floors. Many schools have carpeted surfaces, which in addition to providing insulation and noise reduction, also acts as an air filter by trapping airborne pollutants. Periodically removing these pollutants through a deep cleaning process reduces heavy build-up that can affect allergy and asthma sufferers. Deep cleaning tile and grout can also improve safety by improving slip resistance.

 • HVAC cleaning. Coil cleaning within heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units kills bacteria, mold and mildew, leading to improved indoor air quality, airflow and temperature accuracy, while removing potential odors.

 • Maintain mats. Mats trap dirt and moisture from tracked in snow and rain, protecting school floors from damage and limiting slips and falls – as long as they are properly maintained. Caring for mats extends their lifespan and ensures they capture contaminants. Schools can also customize mats with a mascot or logo to promote school spirit.

 • Sanitize high-touch surfaces. To limit the spread of germs throughout a school, regularly disinfect high-touch surfaces within classrooms, libraries, cafeterias, gymnasiums and other frequently used areas such as railings and door handles.

Croaker, Inc had all the products and supplies for any maintenance need, including inside and outside door mats.  Have questions?  Contact us for product suggestions and effective procedures.
